'E - jamboree' Set on Sunday

The boy scout of the Philippines - Cebu Council is tying up with the Internet Cafe Association of Cebu (ICAC) for its, "Jamboree on the Internet" this Sunday.

This is a national project of the BSP. with theme "Learning the values and moral responsibility of the Information Technology."

The "e-jamboree" will allow boy scout to use the Internet and visit educational websites for free. and to contact other scouts nationwide and even globally by e-mail or internet relay chat and established friendship.

ICAC members will teach the young scouts on basic computer hardware and software; input and output devices; basic concepts and uses of the Internet, e-mail, web browser and search engine web sites; the Internet Relay Chat(IRC), and which websites will teach scouts to learn Christian values and moral responsibility.

There will be a crash course on how these scouts can use the Internet to improve their academic performance and value formation, and to promote the scouting movement through the Internet.

This Sunday.' 10 participating Internet Cafe's will accommodate 200 select boy scouts from elementary and high schools in the city.

JAMBOREE ON THE INTERNET (October 21st Sunday, from 8:00am to 12:00 noon)

PROGRAMS

1.) Registration (by ICAC member) 15-30min
2.) Invocation (by BSP)
3.) National Anthem (by BSP)
4.) Scout Oath and Law (by BSP)
5.) Introduction of Participants (by BSP)
5.) Welcome Remarks (by ICAC member)
6.) Topics on a power point presentations (by ICAC member or rep)
        - What is Computer Hardware and Software?
        - What is Input and Output devices?
        - What is an Internet? What is a Web site?
        - What is a Domain name? How to use it?
        - How to use the Search Engine websites?
        - What are the Top 10 Educational Websites?
        - What is an Electronic mail (E-mail)?
        - What is an Internet Relay Chat(IRC)?
        - What is E-Commerce?

        Hands-on 1 hour & 30 min

7.) Distribution of Certificates (ICAC & BSP)
9.) Closing (ICAC members or Rep.)
10.) Picture taking (by ICAC/BSP for documentation / websites publication)

Note: BSP will have an adult leader and a school teacher for every 20 boy scouts in every I-cafe.
